DSL Directions - Windows Vista

A Router is needed if you are connecting more than one computer to the Internet at a time. Although there are several brands of Wired and Wireless routers, they should all be compatible with your YHTI DSL service.

  1. Connect your DSL Modem and Filters
  2. Click on the START button, located at the bottom left of your monitor, and then on the Control Panel.
  3. Click on the "Classic View" link located at the top left of the window then double click to open the Network and Sharing Center icon from the Control Panel.
  4. Click on the "Manage network connections" link located in the Tasks area of the window. at the top left of the screen.
  5. Right click on the Local Area Connections icon and left click on Properties.
  6. Click Continue at the Permission to continue window.
  7. Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" from the bottom of the "items" list and click Properties.
  8. Select "Obtain an IP Address Automatically".
  9. Select "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically".
  10. Click OK at the "Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties" window and then OK at the "Local Area Connections" window.
  11. Restart your PC and turn the DSL modem off and back on.
