Editing Your Bookmarks and Favorites

To keep your bookmarks and favorites up to date and easy to use, it's important to learn how to edit them. You may want to edit them because the page title is vague (index page, for instance) or so long that they can't fit inside your bookmarks or favorites window.

Or it may be that some pages that you bookmarked are now at new URLs and you'd like to update the addresses you saved so that they point to the new location.

Follow the directions for your browser to learn how to edit your bookmarks or favorites.

Netscape Navigator for Windows

  1. Select Bookmarks from the Communicator menu, then choose Edit Bookmarks from the pop-up window.
  2. In the new window, find the bookmark you want to edit. (If the bookmark is inside a folder, click the + next to the folder's name to open it.)
  3. Click the bookmark and choose Bookmark Properties from the Edit menu. This opens a window where you can make changes to the bookmark.
  4. To rename the bookmark, type a new name in the Name field. Shorter names are generally best.
  5. If the site's URL has changed, type the corrected Web address inside the Location (URL) field.
  6. Type an optional description of this favorite inside the Description field.
  7. Press OK to save your changes.
  8. When you are done making changes to your bookmarks, click the close box on the Bookmarks window.
