There are seven pipelines running across Franklin County.
In an emergency or when planning work near a pipeline, be sure to call Missouri One-Call at 1-800-344-7483 to have them locate the pipeline before you start to dig.
1. Call 911 to report a problem.
2. Evacuate to an upwind location.
3. Do not drive or walk into a vapor cloud.
4. If your engine dies unexpectedly, do not attempt to start it until you
are certain it did not stop due to lack of oxygen.
5. Eliminate all sources of ignition such as engines, electric motors, pilot
lights, burn barrels, and smoking materials if there is a vapor cloud.
6. Do not attempt to extinguish any primary fire source. Leave it for the
pipeline officials to take care of.
7. Do not put water or other chemicals on a vapor cloud or pipeline fire.
8. Do not attempt to ignite a vapor cloud.
9. Vapors will tend to flow to low areas. Keep away from nearby low spots
if the vapor cloud is at a nearby high elevation.
