DSL Directions - Windows ME/2000

A Router is needed if you are connecting more than one computer to the Internet at a time. Although there are several brands of Wired and Wireless routers, they should all be compatible with your YHTI DSL service.

  1. Click on START, SETTINGS then Control Panel.
  2. Double click to open the Network icon.
  3. At the bottom of the "components" list, double click to open "TCP/IP -> 10/100 Ethernet" properties. The actual name, "10/100 Ethernet", on your computer may vary. You will be opening the TCP/IP that is NOT labeled "TCP/IP Dial-Up Adapter".
  4. At the IP Address tab select "Obtain an IP address automatically".
  5. Click on the Gateway tab.
  6. If you have any numbers in the "Installed Gateway" box, highlight them and click Remove.
  7. Click on the DNS Configuration tab and select Disable DNS.
  8. Click OK at the "TCP/IP Properties" window and then OK at the "Network" window.
  9. Hit OK or Yes at the prompt asking you to restart your computer.
  10. Turn the DSL modem off and back on.
